Eligible for a coronavirus vaccine soon? Here’s when you can sign up.

People 40 and older can get a shot starting Monday, but some sites let you set an appointment before then.

Florida’s vaccine rollout has hit a major turning point: Soon, people 40 and older, then those 18 and older, will be eligible for coronavirus vaccination in the state.

Residents who are at least 40 can start getting shots Monday, and the eligibility age will drop to 18 a week later, on April 5. But at some distribution sites, like Publix and some county-run locations, people in those age groups can start signing up for shots in advance — even as soon as today.

One important caveat: Floridians who are 16 and 17 also can get shots, but only those produced by Pfizer-BioNTech. The vaccines from Moderna and Johnson & Johnson have not been approved for people under 18.

Here’s a breakdown of where you can sign up, when:

County sites

Hillborough County health department

County officials said Saturday that vaccinations will continue at the Vance Vogel Sports Complex (drive-thru), 13012 Bullfrog Creek Road in Gibsonton; Ed Radice Sports Complex (drive-thru), 14720 Ed Radice Drive in Northwest Tampa; and TPepin’s Hospitality Centre (walk-through indoors), 4121 N. 50th St. in Tampa. Appointments are available on Saturday, April 3, for those who cannot be seen during the work week.

Appointments are mandatory. Florida residency is required. To make an appointment, go to the CDR Health Pro portal at patientportalfl.com.

The Gibsonton site will offer first doses only during the week of March 29. At the other two, there is a limited number of first dose appointments, as they are administering second doses for those who already received their first.

After patients make their online appointments, the system will automatically make the appointments for their second doses.

Pinellas County health department

Floridians 40 and older can start booking shots through the Pinellas County health department starting today. Those appointments will begin Monday.

More slots will be added as the department’s supply increases, said spokeswoman Maggie Hall. Doses distributed at county sites will primarily be Pfizer-BioNTech.

You can book an appointment at patientportalfl.com or by contacting CDR Maguire at 1-844-770-8548. You can make an account anytime, even before your age group is eligible or appointments are available.

Walk-ups will not be accommodated. Remember to bring proof of age, such as a driver’s license, government-issued ID, birth certificate or passport.

Pasco County health department

Floridians 40 and older can start signing up for shots at 2 p.m. on Sunday, and they will be booked for next week. All doses administered will be from Moderna, the department said.

More appointments open up at the same time each week. Once all appointments are taken for the week, no more appointments will show as available until the following Sunday.

Appointments can be made at patientportalfl.com or by contacting CDR Maguire at 1-844-770-8548. You can make an account anytime, even before your age group is eligible or appointments are available.

Walk-ups will not be accommodated. Remember to bring proof of age, such as a driver’s license, government-issued ID, birth certificate or passport.

Hernando County health department

Appointments for Floridians 40 and older through the Hernando County health department will open on Sunday at 3 p.m, according to the department’s website.

A total of 1,500 appointments for Moderna doses will be split over two days: Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Shots will be administered at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 Broad St. in Brooksville.

Retail pharmacies

Publix

Floridians 40 and older could start registering for vaccine appointments at Publix at 7 a.m. today, according to the company’s website. Those appointments will start happening Monday.

Following a federal directive, Publix said it will prioritize teachers, school staff and other child care workers, then make appointments available to other eligible groups.

Appointments made on Mondays will happen on the following Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, and the Moderna vaccine will be used, according to Publix. Appointments made on Wednesday will happen the following Saturday or Sunday, and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be used. For appointments made on Friday, the Moderna vaccine will be administered the following Monday or Tuesday.

Walgreens

Walgreens will open appointment booking to people 40 and older starting Sunday, and those appointments will start on Monday, the company said.

You can sign up for a shot at walgreens.com/ScheduleVaccine or by calling 1-800-Walgreens. The company has not shared a comprehensive list of store locations, or the number of doses each store has, but customers can see which stores have open slots during booking.

Winn-Dixie

Winn-Dixie was not yet making appointments available to people under 50 as of Friday afternoon. Southeastern Grocers spokeswoman Kaley Shaffer shared the following statement:

“Southeastern Grocers is committed to the safe and equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible customers, and we are encouraged to see the eligibility list continue to expand to include all individuals 40 years of age and older. We are working with the State of Florida and the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) to determine best practices and implement changes to our current system to serve all eligible customers in this newly expanded age group. We expect to have these changes implemented into our process beginning early next week, and we ask our customers to be patient while we adjust to the evolving eligibility criteria.”

Walmart

Walmart did not know when it would open appointments to people as young as 40 as of Friday afternoon.

Spokesman Brian Little said the company was working to “update our internal processes and online scheduling system to reflect those changes. I don’t have a specific timeline to share regarding scheduler changes.”

Walmart’s store map shows which type of vaccines are available at each location. Customers will be able to see this while booking appointments, but they will not be able to pick between doses once they arrive to the pharmacy, Little said.

CVS

CVS Pharmacies will open appointments for Floridians as young as 40 on Monday, when the eligibility age official drops, the company said.

Appointments are required and shots will not be given to walk-in customers. You can register in advance at CVS.com, through the CVS Pharmacy app or by calling CVS customer service at 800-746-7287.
