Hillsborough County will begin free, in-home coronavirus vaccinations on Sunday for residents who are elderly, without transportation or have disabilities that would make it hard for them to travel for shots.

The program, which will run through April 20, is organized by Pulse Clinical Alliance, a Jacksonville-based coalition of clinicians and medical record internet technology professionals that also recently set up a pop-up vaccine site in Ybor City. It will administer the vaccine produced by Pfizer-BioNTech.

Residents can register for in-home vaccinations at mymobilevax.com, and then will receive a call to schedule their appointment between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., the company said. A two-person clinical team, including a nurse practitioner and either a licensed practical nurse or certified nursing assistant, will administer the shots.

They will also conduct a brief health care screening, provide information about the vaccine and monitor the recipient for 15 minutes to ensure there are no adverse side effects. Those who sign up will be provided a four-hour window for when the team will arrive, and the team will return to each recipient’s home 21 days later to administer a second dose.
