TAMPA — Humana announced this week it will award $350,000 to a Tampa Bay charity focused on improving health in its community.

The grant program had previously made about $100,000 available to each winning charity, but the insurer's foundation increased the amount for winning nonprofits in the Tampa Bay area, Chicago and San Antonio, Texas. Under the new plan, each winning charity will get the $350,000 over three years.

Outside of Humana's Louisville, Kentucky, headquarters, the bay area is home to the largest number of its employees.

Applications will be accepted until June 30 and the winners named in September. For information, see humana.com/hcb.
