Since Monday, about 50 volunteers have worked to create a huge photo mosaic at the Florida State Fairgrounds at Interstate 4 and U.S. 301. In commemoration of "World Sight Day," which is the second Thursday in October, Transitions Optical, along with select local volunteers, broke the Guinness World Records mark for the "World's Largest Photo Mosaic" by compiling nearly 200,000 unique, individual photographs to create a mosaic covering more than 21,000 square feet. People from across the United States and Canada submitted photos of their favorite "sights" for the mosaic. The mosaic's unveiling was today, and the Tampa City Council issued a proclamation announcing Oct. 11, 2012, as "Tampa Bay Sight Day."
