Fire destroys home of Brooksville woman while she’s at Bible study

A woman was away at church when a passerby noticed her home was on fire and called 911.

A fire destroyed the home of a Brooksville woman Tuesday night while she was at Bible study, Hernando Fire Rescue officials reported.

Fire crews were summoned to a mobile home in the 7300 block of Mobley Road at about 8:10 p.m. Tuesday after a passerby noticed the home on fire, a news release from fire rescue states.

Within seven minutes, crews from the Brooksville Fire Department arrived and reported that the home was fully involved in flames. The fire had already breached the roof, officials said.

Crews from Hernando Fire Rescue also arrived on scene. Neighbors told firefighters that the woman who lives there was away at church.

The fire was brought under control within about a half hour. The home was heavily damaged is not habitable. The woman who lives there is staying with family. Her name was not released by fire rescue.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
