Many blood centers are experiencing fewer blood donations due to cancellations of blood drives and temporary shutdowns of facilities. To address this, the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, YMCA of the Suncoast and YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg have partnered with OneBlood and LifeSouth to hold blood drives from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 17 at Y locations across Tampa Bay.
Drives with OneBlood will be held at Greater Palm Harbor YMCA, Greater Ridgecrest YMCA in Largo, James P. Gills Family YMCA in Trinity, Bardmoor YMCA in Largo, Clearwater YMCA, Jim and Heather Gills YMCA in St. Petersburg and North Pinellas YMCA in Palm Harbor. Donors at those locations will receive a free OneBlood water bottle, free wellness checkup (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count and cholesterol screening). For information or to make an appointment, visit oneblood.org/ymca or call 1-888-936-6283.
Drives with LifeSouth will be at the Hernando County Family YMCA in Spring Hill and Citrus Memorial Health Foundation YMCA in Lecanto. Donors at those locations will receive a free T-shirt and a coupon for a free pizza from Domino’s, as well as a wellness checkup.
