RUSKIN — Troopers have identified a driver killed Sunday afternoon when his pickup truck hit a tree as Axel R. Figueroa, 30, of Ruskin.

Figueroa was headed south on U.S. 41 approaching Valroy Road at about 3:40 p.m. when he began driving erratically, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The truck left the roadway, entered the median and Figueroa overcorrected to the right, traveling across the roadway to the outside shoulder, the Highway Patrol said.

The truck rotated and collided with a tree.
