TAMPA — A Brandon man has been arrested in connection with the shooting of a man in Tampa Thursday.

Robert Beausejour, Jr, 38, is charged with murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm, armed burglary and tampering with a witness. The man killed in the incident has been identified as Jeffrey Negron, 37.

According to police, a man called 911 just after 9 p.m. reporting that Beausejour was trying to break in to a home. Police responded and found Beausejour standing near a vehicle. He took off and escaped by running through yards.

A witness, a pregnant woman, told officers that a victim was in a car. Officers found Negron there dead.

The pregnant woman told officers that she had known Beausejour for about three years and that he had forced his way into the home and confronted Negron and shot him.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Beausejour and arrested him on Friday in Valrico.
