Teen, 17, shot and killed at Wimauma home

WIMAUMA ⁠— A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot in a residence on Wednesday night but the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has released few details about what happened.

The incident took place at about 7 p.m. at a home along the 500 block of Ninth Street. That’s when the Sheriff’s Office said it received several 911 calls about the shooting.

Deputies arrived about 10 minutes later and found a 17-year-old inside the residence who had been badly wounded in his upper body region.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene, but the boy died at the scene. The name of the boy was not released by the agency.

Detectives are interviewing neighbors and anyone else who witnessed the shooting.
