Ruskin 17-year-old dies in motorcycle crash on U.S. 41, troopers say

RUSKIN — A 17-year-old boy died Tuesday when he crashed his motorcycle into a guardrail on U.S. 41 S, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place just south of Saffold Park Drive at about 3:20 p.m.

Calvin Anthony Ertell was operating a Suzuki GSX-R600L on southbound U.S. 41 S when he lost control, troopers said. The motorcycle ran off the road, entered the outside shoulder of the roadway and then smashed into a guardrail.

The impact of the collision threw Ertell from the motorcycle, troopers said. He died of his injuries at the scene.

Ertell was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
