TAMPA — A 17-year-old flipped over a guardrail on Interstate 275 Sunday after colliding with a boat trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Carl-Eddy Junior Agustin, 17, was driving a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe southbound on I-275 approaching Floribraska Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. As he crested a hill in the road, he collided with a boat trailer towed by a 2004 Ford F-150 truck traveling at a slower speed in the inside lane, troopers said.

After the impact, the Santa Fe rotated to the outside shoulder, hit a guardrail and flipped over, troopers said. Agustin, of Tampa, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with minor injuries.

The F-150 was driven by John Seymore Hamilton, 40, of Lutz. Neither he nor a passenger sustained injuries.

Troopers estimate the crash caused $7,000 worth of damage to the Santa Fe and $2,000 worth of damage to the F-150.

Charges are pending. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said.
