TAMPA — A motorcyclist from Largo was killed in a crash on northbound I-275 on the north end of the Howard Frankland Bridge early Thursday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
Troopers said the 23-year-old man was traveling at a “high rate of speed” in the northbound lanes at about 2:45 a.m. when he ran into the back of a tractor trailer driven by a 63-year-old Tampa man.
The motorcyclist died at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The highway patrol trooper did not release the names of either driver citing their interpretation of Marsy’s Law.
Troopers closed all northbound lanes until about 5:30 a.m. as they investigated.
