TAMPA — A woman and her newborn baby sought by Hillsborough deputies has been found safe.

Child protective investigators with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office began searching for Kanasia Johnson, 20, on Thursday after she left St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital with her newborn baby girl, Brinae Sherman. Johnson’s parental rights were terminated with her last child, and she failed to inform her case manager that she was pregnant with Brinae Sherman, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office reported Monday morning that Johnson and her baby had been found safe but did not release any more details.
