Hillsborough jail inmate dies after medical episode, deputies say

TAMPA — A Hillsborough County jail inmate died Sunday, four days after he was hospitalized after suffering a medical episode, deputies said.

Harry Lee Humphries, 58, had a medical episode in the Falkenburg Road Jail on Nov. 24 and was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Humphries was pronounced dead there Sunday.

The cause of Humphries death remained under investigation by the Hillsborough Medical Examiner on Monday, deputies said.

Jail records show Humphries was booked into the jail on Dec. 18 on charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and criminal mischief. The case was still pending at the time of his death, court records show.
