Riverview motorcyclist killed when car cuts him off, troopers say

The car driver was attempting a U-turn when he entered the motorcyclist’s path, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

RIVERVIEW — A 42-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday when he was cut off by a car on U.S. 301, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash took place just before 6 p.m. at U.S. 301 and Pleasant Living Park Drive.

The motorcyclist was headed south on U.S. 301. A 20-year-old Wimauma man was traveling north on U.S. 301 in a car when he attempted a U-turn at Pleasant Living Park Drive, according to the Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the sedan then pulled in front of the motorcycle, causing both to collide.

The motorcyclist, who is from Riverview, died of his injuries at the scene of the crash.

The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol. The sedan’s driver was wearing his seatbelt and suffered minor injuries.

The Highway Patrol did not release the name of either man involved in the crash. The agency did not release any other details about the crash.
