PLANT CITY — A 41-year-old Dover man was killed when he clipped a car and crashed while changing lanes on Interstate 4, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred about 7:10 p.m. Thursday between McIntosh and Mango Roads.
The Dover man was headed west in a pickup truck when he struck the right front of a car while changing lanes. The collision caused the truck to spin and overturn into the highway median, ejecting the driver. The truck then struck a guardrail.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, the Highway Patrol said. He died at the scene.
The driver of the car, a 29-year-old Tampa man, and two passengers were not injured.
The Highway Patrol did not release the names of the drivers because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
