LUTZ — A 27-year-old Orlando man died from injuries he received when a car in which he was riding spun out and hit a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The collision occurred about 10:10 a.m. Tuesday on Florida Avenue near Hayes Street in Lutz.
A 26-year-old Orlando woman was at the wheel, headed north, when she lost control for unknown reasons, causing the car to spin onto the concrete sidewalk along the east shoulder, the Highway Patrol said. The car struck two parked cars outside an office building before hitting the tree.
The passenger later died at a hospital. The driver received serious injuries.
The Highway Patrol did not release their names because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was designed to protect crime victims but that has deprived the public of information long available under Florida public records law.
