A 27-year-old Riverview man was killed in a single-car crash early Friday morning in Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The crash occurred at 4:36 a.m. at Interstate 75 and the Selmon Expressway. Troopers said the man killed was a passenger in a car driven by a 23-year-old man who also is from Riverview.
The car was traveling north on I-75 when the driver exited on the westbound entrance ramp of the expressway. He “failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway,” then ran off the road, causing the car to overturn, troopers reported.
The passenger was ejected and killed. The driver was “partially ejected” and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, troopers said.
Neither man was wearing a seat belt, troopers said. No other information was released by the highway patrol.
