Teen dead in Tampa homicide, deputies say

The male teenager, who is believed to be a juvenile, was found lying outside a duplex in the University area, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

TAMPA — A teenager was killed in an apparent homicide in Tampa’s University area on Wednesday, deputies said.

Deputies working an unrelated call near the intersection of E 124th Avenue and N 9th Street were alerted to a victim lying outside a duplex, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The male teenager, who deputies believe is a juvenile, appeared to have upper body trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Detectives were interviewing people who were in the area at the time and working to confirm the identity of the teen. The Sheriff’s Office doesn’t release the names of suspected crime victims due to the agency’s interpretation of Marsy’s Law.

No other details have been released.
