WIMAUMA — Troopers are searching for the vehicle that ran over a 54-year-old man as he lay in the road after being ejected from his pickup truck.
He died of his injuries. The Florida Highway Patrol released photos of the vehicle being sought, captured by a witness’s dashboard-mounted camera at night with low visibility.
The incident took place March 25 at an undisclosed time on Sun City Center Boulevard near Balm Wimauma Road. The victim, a 54-year-old Wimauma man, was driving a Chevrolet S-10 pickup east on Sun City Center Boulevard when the truck started to roll as he negotiated a curve. The truck left the road and the driver was thrown out, landing on the roadway.
An eastbound vehicle struck him soon afterward and drove away, the Highway Patrol said. The man died at a hospital.
