TAMPA — A 78-year-old Riverview woman was killed Tuesday when her car veered off an Interstate 75 exit ramp, troopers said.

The woman was driving a sedan north on the exit ramp to westbound Fowler Avenue about 10 a.m. when the car left the roadway, continued down an embankment and crashed into a concrete drainage ditch, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The woman died from her injuries at the scene.

The Highway Patrol did not release the woman’s name because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law. The agency withholds names even in cases when no crime is suspected.
