TAMPA — Two people were shot and wounded Saturday when a man fired on them as they ran from a barber shop, deputies say.

The shooting took place at the Fade Station barbershop at 8002 W Waters Ave. about 1 p.m., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Avondre Victor, 27 was arrested by deputes later that afternoon after fleeing the scene, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He faces two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the agency.

Deputies say the shooting began as an argument inside the barbershop. After Victor brandished a gun, however, the agency said the two men ran to the door “in fear for their lives.” Then deputies say Victor started shooting.

The duo was able to escape without fatal injuries and both were hospitalized. After fleeing Fade Station, they took cover next door inside the Sunshine Animal Hospital,

Deputies say the veterinary staff treated the two men’s gunshot wounds before they were taken to a hospital. The Sheriff’s Office did not release the names of the two men, but said both were reported to be in stable condition.

After the shooting, Victor fled the scene west on W Waters Avenue in a 2004 Ford Explorer after the shooting, deputies say.

He later crash his SUV into the Amscot at 7250 W Waters Ave, ran away and then somehow shot himself in the leg, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies don’t know if that was accidental or intentional.

The 27-year-old was eventually captured in the drive-through lanes of the Bank of America located at 8320 Hanley Road, deputies say, about a half-mile away from where the shooting occurred.

He was taken to a hospital for medical treatment but as of Saturday night had not yet been booked into the Hillsborough County jail.
