TAMPA — An 84-year-old Tampa woman was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle Saturday night while she was running across Interstate 275 south of Fowler Avenue, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The woman was running east about 8:35 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound SUV carrying four people from New York City, including the man driving, 43, the Highway Patrol said.

The Highway Patrol did not release the names of those involved in the incident because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
