APOLLO BEACH — A 43-year-Brandon man died when a car he was riding in failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and overturned into a line of trees, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred about 11:40 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 75 at the exit ramp to Big Bend Road.

The driver, a 31-year-old Brandon woman, received minor injuries, troopers said.

The Highway Patrol did not release the name of the passenger and driver because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
