LUTZ — A 21-year-old Land O’ Lakes man died when a sport utility vehicle turned left into his path as he was riding a motorcycle on North Dale Mabry Highway.
The crash occurred about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on Dale Mabry, State Road 597, at the Veterans Expressway spur or State Road 568.
A 17-year-old Odessa girl driving the SUV was headed north on Dale Mabry and made a left turn into the path of the southbound motorcycle. The motorcycle collided with right side of the SUV.
The Land O’ Lakes man, who was wearing a helmet, received fatal injuries. The Odessa girl was not injured.
The Highway Patrol did not release their names because of its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a voter-approved amendment to the state Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but that deprives the public of information long available under Florida’s public records law.
