DOVER — The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man killed when an Amtrak train struck his car on Sunday.
Nicky Estrella, 27, was killed when the train struck the car he was driving at the crossing near the intersection of E Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Sydney Dover Road, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews responded to the call shortly after noon, according to information previously released. The train was traveling west when it collided with the single-passenger car. Estrella was the only person in the car and died at the scene.
Public records show Estrella was a longtime Plant City resident.
