The crash occurred about 8:20 p.m. Friday on U.S. 41 near 10th Avenue South. Troopers said the motorcyclist, 53, was driving south on the inside lane when he lost control.

Both he and a passenger, a 51-year-old Tampa woman, were thrown from the motorcycle. The woman suffered serious injuries. Neither was wearing a helmet, troopers reported.
