GIBSONTON — A man died Thursday morning after he fell or jumped from his tricycle and was struck by a driver who couldn’t swerve to miss him, the Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash happened around 10:50 a.m. near the intersection of Gibsonton Drive and Davis Street.
A car headed east on Gibsonton Drive spotted the man in the roadway and swerved to avoid him, the Sheriff’s Office said. The man then either fell or jumped and a second car, also headed east on Gibsonton Drive, swerved but hit him, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The driver of the second car immediately called 911. The tricycle rider died at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office did not release the names of those involved in the incident.
