A 19-year-old man was killed early Tuesday morning when the car he was riding in was rear-ended by a man driving a Jeep in Hillsborough County, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The crash happened at 4:36 a.m. on U.S. 92 at Mango Road.

Troopers said a 23-year-old woman from Gibsonton was driving a 2019 Nissan Altima and was stopped in the eastbound lane of U.S. 92 for the traffic signal at Mango Road. Her passenger was the 19-year-old man, who was also from Gibsonton.

Troopers said a 35-year-old man from Auburndale driving a 2016 Jeep Wrangler rear-ended.

The 19-year-old was killed at the scene, while the driver of the Altima had minor injuries, troopers said. The driver of the Jeep was not injured, troopers said.

Other details, such as the names of the people involved and whether charges would be filed, were not released.
