Pedestrian hit and killed on U.S. 301 in Hillsborough Friday morning

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the woman walked in front of a car.

A 20-year-old woman from Palm Harbor was killed early Friday morning after she walked in front of a car on U.S. 301 in Hillsborough County and was hit, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The incident occurred at 5:47 a.m. near Valletta Drive, which is just northwest of the Interstate 75 and Interstate 4 interchange.

Troopers said in a news release that for an “unknown reason,” the woman walked into the path of the northbound car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 23-year-old Tampa man, was not injured.

No other details, including the names of the people involved, were released.
