A 77-year-old Ellenton man is dead after a two-vehicle crash in Hillsborough County on Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man was driving a sport utility vehicle west on Manatee Creek Boulevard around 11:50 a.m. When he got to the intersection of U.S. 41, also known as Tamiami Trail, he turned left onto the highway — entering into the path of a sedan driven by a 25-year-old woman from Bradenton, the agency said in a news release.

The Bradenton woman’s sedan struck the left side of the Ellenton man’s SUV, troopers said.

The SUV driver was taken to an area hospital, where he later died, according to the release. The driver of the sedan sustained minor injuries, as did her two passengers — a 25-year-old man from Palmetto and a 10-year-old girl from Bradenton.
