Tampa driver hits, kills pedestrian in Hillsborough County, troopers say

A 64-year-old man from Lutz who was hit by a vehicle while walking Tuesday on U.S. 41 has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened just north of Crystal Lake Road around 5:55 p.m. A Tampa man, 18, was driving a sedan south in the center lane of the highway when, according to the agency, the pedestrian “walked into the path of and was struck by the vehicle.”

The 64-year-old man was taken to an area hospital, where he later died of his injuries, troopers said. The sedan driver was not injured.

The Highway Patrol did not name the driver or the pedestrian who was killed.
