Hillsborough deputies seek public’s help in fatal Riverview pedestrian crash

Hillsborough deputies are seeking help from they public as they investigate the death of a woman who may have been hit by multiple vehicles as she tried to cross Big Bend Road in Riverview this week.

Deputies responded about 5 a.m. Tuesday to a call about a traffic crash on Big Bend Road near Mercadier Lane, which is just west of U.S. Highway 301, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found an injured woman lying in the westbound lanes. She died at the scene.

Witnesses said the woman was walking her bicycle across Big Bend Road when she was hit, possibly by multiple vehicles. One driver stopped and is cooperating with the investigation but detectives are working to identify and locate others who may have been involved.

Witnesses said one of the vehicles was a silver or white lifted Ford F-150 pickup. The second vehicle is a dark-colored SUV. The pickup and the SUV were seen heading west on Big Bend Road after the crash.

Both vehicles may have damage to their front bumpers and undercarriages, deputies said.
