FUMC announces keynote speaker for Heritage Sunday

First United Methodist Clearwater announced that Rev. Dr. Candace M. Lewis will be the keynote speaker for its annual Heritage Sunday taking place March 19. The event celebrates FUMC ministries in Clearwater dating back to 1859. Lewis is an ordained elder and superintendent of the Gulf Central District of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. She is a graduate of the University of Florida and received her Master of Divinity degree from Gammon Seminary in 1996. In 2000, she graduated from the Harvard Divinity School's Summer Leadership Institute on Faith-Based Community Economic Development. She completed her Doctorate in Ministry degree in Church Leadership Excellence at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. in 2014.

Clearwater Yacht Club members compete in cook-off

The Cruisers of the Clearwater Yacht Club competed in a breakfast cook-off at Caladesi Island. The Yacht Club determined that all participants tied.

Sylvia Goodman turns 100

Friends and family celebrated Sylvia Goodman's 100th Birthday celebration at Windrush Bay, Tarpon Springs. She was born in Boston. She held an outdoor block party attended by approximately 70 people.
