The largest moon of 2013, also known as a supermoon, rose early Sunday morning.

According to NASA, Sunday's supermoon appeared 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than the average full moon.

A supermoon occurs when the moon arrives at perigee, the closest point in orbit around the Earth, on the morning after the full moon rise. The moon set at 6:45 Sunday and the sun rose at 6:34.
