Hillsborough deputies: Alligator comes knocking at Plant City home's front door

PLANT CITY — It wasn't a Girl Scout pushing cookies or a cable man looking to fix a television who came knocking on a mobile home's front door last week.

It was an alligator. And at 9 feet, 5 inches, it was ready to fight.

A resident of Partridge Pass called 911 on March 27, alarmed that a huge gator was trying make its way through his front door. He said when he tried to go outside, he found the big beast on his steps.

"I've got an alligator at my door," the man told an operator. "He's a good size one."

So the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office dispatched a licensed trapper and a brave deputy to the scene, where the women wrangled the house-crashing reptile.

The Sheriff's Office posted a photo of the two women holding the gator's snapper shut to its Facebook page Tuesday.

Deputy Desirae Krouse and the trapper were able to get the alligator under control before it had the chance to harm anyone.

Facebook commenters were impressed, others shared typical "Oh, Florida" sentiments.

"That's going above and beyond the call of duty," one wrote. "She needs a reward ... Get it sister."
