Memorial events planned for three St. Petersburg sisters killed in car crash

ST. PETERSBURG — The family of three women killed in a car crash Sunday night on State Road 70 in De Soto County has planned memorial events at their church later this week.

Tehira Welch, 18; India Welch, 24; and LaMour Welch, 29, were killed in the crash along with Antwayne Robinson, 25, of Garner, N.C. They were driving back from Fort Pierce, where they had attended a regional conference for the Church of God in Christ. Also killed was Jennifer Zuniga, 30, of Venus, the driver of a pickup that hydroplaned and hit the Welches' car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 6-year-old boy in Zuniga's truck survived but was in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital on Monday. No additional information about his condition was available Tuesday.

The women's father, Ricardo Welch, is the pastor at Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ in St. Petersburg.

The schedule of memorial events is as follows:

• Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. — Candlelight Vigil: Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum 2240 9th Ave. S

• Thursday, 6:00 p.m. — Community Choir rehearsal: Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ, 1137 37th St. S

• Friday, 4:00 p.m. — Public Viewing: Lawson Funeral Home, 4535 Central Ave.

• Friday, 6:00 p.m. — Music and Dance Celebration of Life (Wake): Prayer Tower Church of God in Christ 1137 37th St. S

• Saturday, Noon — Homegoing Service: First Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, 1900 Gandy Blvd.
