The annual Papa Joe's 99-Cent Pasta Fest at the Papa Joe's Restaurant in Spring Lake continued on Tuesday as a drive-through despite the restaurant burning down in January. "We are so glad we are able to come together and continue our tradition," waitress Lindsey Carollo said. "They are working hard to rebuild," Carollo said of owners "Papa" Joe and Donna Giarratana. "It feels promising and exciting to give back to the community." The proceeds from the event will benefit several area churches, including Spring Lake United Methodist, Hillside Community Baptist, St. Anthony Catholic, Grace Brethren, Grace World Outreach and Providence, that helped the restaurant and its employees who lost work after the fire. The restaurant is scheduled to reopen in March.
