A St. Petersburg woman has claimed the $13 million Florida Lottery jackpot after purchasing the winning ticket at a Publix in St. Petersburg.

Joanne Powell, 78, won the jackpot from a drawing on March 15, lottery officials announced Monday in a news release. She purchased the winning ticket using quick pick at the Publix on 5577 Park Street N.

"My husband and I have been buying our Florida Lotto tickets at the same Publix since 2002," Powell said in the release. "We heard they had recently sold a winning ticket, and checked the numbers in the newspaper while out to breakfast. We couldn't believe our luck when we discovered the winning numbers matched our ticket."

Powell chose to receive the winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $8,675,247.98, according to the release.

The grocer received a bonus commission of $65,000 for selling the winning ticket.

Powell could not be reached for comment.
