ST. PETERSBURG — Two people were killed early Friday when an SUV entered the path of a motorcycle, causing a collision south of downtown, police said.
The crash happened about 4:23 a.m. at the intersection of Fourth Street S and Roser Park Drive S, according to St. Petersburg police.
Jessica Lynn Smith, 49, was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer with two passengers north on Fourth Street S. A 33-year-old St. Petersburg man was headed in the opposite direction, riding south on Fourth Street S.
Then the SUV driver turned left onto Roser Park Drive S, police said, and entered the motorcyclist’s path. The motorcycle slammed into the passenger side of the SUV.
The 33-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene of the crash. St. Petersburg police did not release his name.
All three occupants of the SUV were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg hospital. Isha Clark, 34, was pronounced dead there. The other passenger, Carrie Lindley, 49, was reported to be in critical condition. The driver, Smith, was in stable condition.
No other details about the incident were released by police. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
