Hillsborough County commissioners on Wednesday approved a $100,000 incentive package to try to woo movie director Tim Burton and his production team to film in the Tampa Bay area.

The money is contingent on Pinellas County approving a similar package with the idea that the film, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, could be shot on both sides of the bay.

The efforts are part of a long-term plan to attract more movie production to the area in order to boost the economy and amplify the brand of Tampa Bay, Commissioner Ken Hagan said.

This move comes on the heels of a December decision to provide a similar package to the production company behind The Infiltrator, starring Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad.
