Add Pinellas County to the list of municipalities that are suing British Petroleum for damages from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Although no oil touched county shores, lawyers for the county are claiming that the area's economy took a hit as a result of the spill as tourism declined.
The suit states that tax revenues fell following the environmental disaster, a result of BP's negligence and willful misconduct. County lawyers did not ask for a specific dollar amount
Tampa and Hillsborough County, as well as the cities of Clearwater and Dunedin, have also filed suit against the oil giant.
