A New Port Richey woman died late Sunday night after being run over by her 2013 Dodge Caravan, police say.

The New Port Richey Police Department say the incident occurred after Georgann Klecan, 70, forgot to put her minivan in park — an action that caused the van to roll down her driveway and knock her to the ground while she attempted to get out.

The incident occurred on Pennsylvania Avenue at Klecan’s home in New Port Richey.

Police say ‘good samaritans’ tried to care for Klecan while authorities responded to the scene. She was rushed to North Bay Hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Police say an investigation is underway, but they don’t believe the incident to be anything more than a tragic accident.

Klecan’s Facebook page showed she used to work for Airtran and Southwest Airlines, and was a graduate of Carl Schurz High School in Chicago’s northside. Many of her friends and family took to that same page to share their condolences.

“I cannot believe that you are gone,” wrote Facebook user Janet LaClava. “I’m so sorry that we haven’t seen each other in years. God has you in his loving arms, with your brother, and your sister, and your parents ... You will be missed.”
