Dade City man killed in collision on U.S. 301

Two passengers were injured.

A Dade City man was killed Friday afternoon when the car he was driving collided with a semi-trailer truck on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Arnold Koranda, 80, died at the scene. His two passengers, Suzette Koranda, 65, and a 1-year-old boy, were transported to area hospitals. Suzette Koranda is listed in serious condition in the Florida Highway Patrol report.

Shortly after 2 p.m. Friday, Arnold Koranda drove a 2008 Honda CR-V out of a Chevron Station at 20400 US-98, the report said, turned left and stopped at the intersection of U.S. 301.

He then drove into the intersection and into the path of a southbound semi-trailer truck being driven by Juan Carlos Garcia Ponce, 51, also of Dade City. The front of the semi-trailer truck collided with the left side of the CR-V. The other driver was not injured.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
