AARP offers its safe driving class to Pasco seniors

Safe driving class offered to seniors

The AARP Smart Driver Course will be offered at the following locations in January. The course is open to drivers 50 and older who, upon completion, may receive a discount on their auto insurance premiums. The certificate is valid for three years. The cost for the course is $15 for AARP members (bring membership card) and $20 for nonmembers. Space is limited; preregistration is required. Libraries now offer Creativebug

Pasco County Libraries now offer Creativebug, an online resource that provides high-quality art and craft instructional videos. Crafting experts and novices alike can enjoy unlimited access to thousands of online art and craft classes at no cost. A library card is needed to create a free Creativebug account.

Creativebug online classes include quilting, home decor, jewelry, holiday and party, sewing and more. Videos include lists of materials, patterns or templates, and other information crafters may need to complete their projects.

Government shuts down for the holidays

Pasco County Government offices, including the Supervisor of Elections Office, will close at noon Dec. 24 and will be closed Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas. Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources’ Offices, Recreation Complexes and Community Centers will close at noon Dec. 24 and reopen Dec. 26; however, the parks and beaches will stay open from dawn to dusk.

Pasco County Public Transportation will be open Dec. 24; however, buses will run through the Saturday schedule end times, which vary by route (refer to individual route schedules). Transportation administrative offices will close at noon Dec. 24 to walk-in customers, but phone lines will be open. The office will be closed and bus services will not run Dec. 25.

The Pasco County Animal Services administration office and field services will close at noon Dec. 24; the shelter, adoption center and intake-reclaim will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. An animal control officer will be available for emergencies only. The Pasco County Resource Recovery Facility, West Pasco Class III and the East Pasco Transfer Station will be closed Dec. 24 to the public, but will be open to Pasco County licensed commercial haulers. It will be closed to everyone on Dec. 25. All Pasco County libraries will close at 1 p.m. Dec. 24.

The Pasco County Tax Collector’s Office and Property Appraiser’s Office will be closed Dec. 24 and 25. The Pasco County Clerk and Comptroller’s Office will be open Dec. 24 and closed Dec. 25.
