Pasco man accused of DUI manslaughter after running stop sign, troopers say

The crash resulted in the death of a 70-year-old Michigan resident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A Zephyrhills man is being charged with killing a 70-year-old Michigan man while driving under the influence of drugs.

Alan Thomas Jerdan, 36, was charged with DUI manslaughter after authorities say he ran a stop sign at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Lynbrook Drive and Old Lakeland Highway, also known as County Road 535.

His 2008 Lincoln MKZ hit the left side of a Ford F-150 being driven by Donn Mosier, 70. The truck spun and overturned, and Mosier was ejected from the vehicle. He was not wearing a seat-belt, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Mosier, a resident of Vandalia, Mich., was transported to a local hospital and died from his injuries.

Jerdan previously served one year of probation after being found guilty of driving under the influence in 2011, Pasco County court records show.
