A man is dead and a woman injured after an argument over money turned deadly Sunday night in the Lake Bernadette area of Pasco County, deputies said.

According to an arrest affidavit, deputies responding to a 911 call shortly after 9 p.m. found Kyle Austin Heady, 28, walking nude in the road outside a home in Zephyrhills. Parts of his body were covered in blood.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found a man dead in the living room. A woman in another part of the house was injured but still alive. Both had stab wounds and evidence of blunt-force trauma to their heads.

Deputies found a bloody butcher knife near the man. Overturned furniture and broken items also were discovered in the house.

While searching the home, detectives were told that Heady was responsible for the attacks.

Later, during an interview with detectives, Heady said he’d been drinking before he visited the house. He said he repeatedly asked one of the victims for money, and when the person refused, he went into a “rage.”

Heady told detectives the two victims were sitting on the living-room couch playing solitaire and watching television when he began punching the male victim on the head.

Heady told detectives he’d blacked out during parts of the attack and did not recall using the butcher knife.

He also said he was the only other person in the house at the time.

Heady was arrested and faces charges of homicide and attempted homicide, according to deputies.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office has not identified the victims.

This isn’t Heady’s first run-in with the law.

On Oct. 15, 2019, he entered a pre-trial diversion program after he had been arrested and charged in connection with a pair of batteries on Sept. 5. According to the contract, Heady agreed to complete an anger-management class and an alcohol and drug evaluation. He also was prohibited from contacting the victims.
