LAND O’ LAKES — United Way of Pasco County has awarded mini-grants to more than 30 organizations and totalling $58,000 as part of its COVID-19 relief funding for food, hygiene products and other needs.

Applications were reviewed by community volunteers and had to provide documentation of their nonprofit status and ensure that funds would go directly to those in need. Recipients were a variety of social service organizations, church-affiliated organizations and youth- and family-oriented programs ranging from Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas and West Pasco County to the Early Learning Coalition.

Awarded in three funding waves, the grants included approximately $22,000 for food assistance, $17,000 for hygiene products, $6,700 for cleaning supplies, $5,500 for medical supplies and personal protection equipment, $3,600 for utilities assistance and $2,000 for child care for essential employees. Another $4,000 was provided in in-kind donations for distance-learning technology.

This is the final round of funding for the COVID-19 mini-grants, but United Way of Pasco continues to assist county residents with rent and utility expenses. Individuals requiring this type of assistance may call 2-1-1 for more information.
