HUDSON — A 61-year-old Spring Hill man died Sunday morning after his motorcycle slammed into the back of a pickup truck parked in the outside lane of U.S. 19 in Hudson, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The motorcycle was traveling north about 10:30 a.m. in the outside lane of U.S. 19, north of Beacon Woods Drive. A pickup driven by a 19-year-old woman from New Port Richey was stopped in the lane.

The motorcyclist failed to notice the pickup and slammed into the back, ejecting him. He died of his injuries at the scene, the Highway Patrol said.. He was not wearing a helmet.

The woman was not injured.

Troopers did not release the names of the motorcyclist or the driver of the truck because of their interpretation of Marsy’s Law, a constitutional amendment passed by voters in 2018 that is designed to protect crime victims but also deprives the public of information that had long been made available in Florida.
