An 83-year-old Clearwater man was killed in a crash on U.S. 19 in Pasco County early Thursday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Troopers said the man was driving a pickup west on Bolton Avenue at 6:15 a.m. Thursday when he ran a stop sign at U.S. 19. A sport utility vehicle traveling north on U.S. 19 hit him. The man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene, troopers said.

Neither the driver of the SUV, a 26-year-old man from Dade City, nor his passenger, a 27-year-old man from Hudson, were injured. Both were wearing seatbelts, troopers said.

The highway patrol did not release the names of the people involved in the crash.
